Ike Davis and Teammates bartended while Lee Brice performed at City Winery in NYC. All proceeds were donated to Solving Kids' Cancer & The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative in honor of Mike Lio.

This year's event was a huge success! We had a sellout crowd and the Majerle's event was packed. Although the Met's fell short in the end, Ike hit three homers! Check out the article here: Davis' Feat Comes on Day of Remembrance

Thank you to all the sponsors and attendees who helped raise over $7,500.00 for Sarcoma research! A big thanks to Chris Young and Ike Davis who passed out our wristbands to both teams to spread awareness for this rare cancer.

HIKE FOR MIKE 2011

The second annual HIKE FOR MIKE 2011 raised $1,015.00.

54 hikers participated in a two hour hike through the Phoenix Mountain Preserve on Christmas Eve, which would have been Mike’s 25th birthday. Following the hike, a reception with food and drinks was held at the Lio’s home. Strike Out Sarcoma T-shirt and Wristband sales along with direct donations will go towards Ewing’s Sarcoma research in memory of Michael Lio. A big Thank you to everyone who participated in the Hike or just stopped by afterwards to show their support.


Fourth Annual River Region Open Car and Truck Showcar show

The Fourth Annual River Region Open Car and Truck Show was held on September 10, 2011. Four of the major car clubs in the Montgomery region team up for the event. The GM High Performance Car Club has again identified FJC/Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative in Memory of Mike. John, Mike's grandfather, was able to participate and represent the family at the show.

A Night with Ike Davis

Sunday, July 17th at 7pm

The New York Mets star slugger 1st baseman, Ike Davis, held a special charity event at “Michael’s of Brooklyn”, in memory of his friend, Michael Lio who lost his life to Ewing’s Sarcoma in 2009. The event included dinner, entertainment, a live interview with ESPN reporter Linda Cohn, a specially designed T-shirt and a silent auction. The proceeds were split 50/50 between "Solving Kids' Cancer" and The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative.

Second Annual STRIKE OUT SARCOMA Night at Chase Field

AZ Diamondbacks vs NY Mets. Raising awareness and funding for Ewing's Sarcoma Research in memory of your friend, Michael Lio.

We had a block of 100 tickets in Lower Level Infield Box, Section 115. These tickets were $55.00 face value, but we sold them for $45.00 each! All proceeds went to FJC/Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative for Ewing's Sarcoma Research in memory of Michael Lio. The Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative is currently a participant in the FJC Collective Giving Program. FJC is a registered 501c3 organization with the Internal Revenue Service (EIN 13-3848582) Hope to see you there!

A Special Thanks to Chris Young, center fielder of the Arizona Diamondbacks. Chris Young is making an impact by wearing our STRIKE OUT SARCOMA wristband and encouraging the staff and teammates to wear them as well. Coach Kirk Gibson and powerhouse Justin Upton have followed his lead in spreading awareness by donning the wristbands as well. It is so great to be watching a Major League ball game and see our wristbands on the guys on National TV and prominently displayed in the photos in the newspaper. Thank you Chris Young for being our MVP of Sarcoma Awareness!

Majerle's has once again offered to host our group with complimentary food and drinks for all STRIKE OUT SARCOMA NIGHT AT CHASE FIELD ticket holders. AZ Diamondbacks play the NY Mets at 5:10 pm. We got the party started at Majerle's where we sold t-shirts, wristbands and raffle tickets for a Green Zebra Adventure tour package for eight people valued at over $1,000.00!

With your help, we raised $8,000.00 at these combined events (Merjerles and Strike Out Sarcoma Night at Chase Field)!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Christmas Eve "HIKE FOR MIKE" We had 34 Hikers, wearing Strike Out Sarcoma T-Shirts, spreading awareness, sharing memories, and celebrating what would have been Mike's 24th birthday. It was a chance for those who have scattered throughout the country, and were home for the holidays to catch up with friends. A two hour morning hike in the Phoenix Mountain Preserve was followed by a reception with food and drinks at the Lio home.


Sandbar Night before Thanksgiving

Wednesday, Nov. 24th

Manager, Matt, from The Sandbar Mexican Grill, located at 10050 North Scottsdale Rd., agreed to have all of his staff wear our STRIKE OUT SARCOMA wristbands and allowed members from our "Michael's Angels" group, Alicia Lenstrohm and Alexis Stein, to sell wristbands during the annual Chaparral High School night before Thanksgiving get together at the Sandbar. The girls sold close to 50 wristbands to patrons to support our cause and help spread awareness. Thanks Angels!


One Year Anniversary of Michael's Passing

Four local car clubs each chose a charity to support and the net receipts will be split amongst those charities. THE GM HIGH PERFORMANCE CLUB has chosen FJC/LIDDY Shriver Sarcoma Initiative in memory of Michael Lio. Michael's grandfather, John Dinger, is a member of the club. Michael's sister, Kristin, traveled to Alabama to help with the fundraiser and spread awareness. Thank you GM High Performance Car Club for your support!

"Michael's Angels" sold 100 game tickets for the Arizona Diamondbacks vs. New York Mets baseball game for International Sarcoma Awareness Week. MLB Players and coaches from both teams wore our STRIKE OUT SARCOMA wristbands, as did the "Rallybacks" pep squad. We were interviewed on live TV to bring awareness to Mike & Ike's story.

Majerle's Sports Grill downtown generously offered to host a pre-game event at their bar with free food and drinks. "Michael's Angels" handed out awareness flyers, free MIKE & IKE candies, sold t-shirts and wristbands. Former NBA star Dan Majerle stopped by and joined in the festivities.

A rally was held at the Lio home. The Lio's provided free food and drinks. We sold STRIKE OUT SARCOMA wristbands and t-shirts, I LIKE IKE t-shirts and Baseball game tickets. 100% of all proceeds went to FJC/Liddy Shriver Sarcoma Initiative for Ewing's Sarcoma research in Michael's memory.

"Michael's Angels" sent out a mass direct mailer appealing for donations in Memory of Michael Lio for International Sarcoma Awareness Week July 17-25. We sent out over 200 via "snail mail", and countless appeals via email and Facebook.
